If you want to fly Spirit Airlines to Florida, you'll have to go to BWI/Marshall Airport now.

Spirit inaugurated flights from BWI to Fort Lauderdale and Dallas Thursday, and as part of its BWI service, it has ceased operations at Reagan National Airport.

"Our new location at BWI allows us to better serve our customers from throughout the entire Baltimore/Washington region," said Spirit Senior Director of Network Planning Mark Kopczak.

Spirit had been flying to Florida from Reagan National for the past nine years.

Spirit now operates twice-daily flights from BWI to Fort Lauderdale and one daily flight to Dallas.

Spirit competes with Southwest Airlines, which offers multiple nonstop flights from BWI to Fort Lauderdale.
